My first blog post... eeeekk! I have to start with my absolute favourite destination - It wouldn't be right to kick start my blog in any other way. Off we go to - LOS ANGELES! What a wonderful city. I never thought that I would be so mesmerised by one place but Los Angeles was extraordinary. There is no better way to get to know a city than visiting it, and hopefully this may inspire you to be spontaneous, book a flight and get off the sofa - get out there and explore the world.
In February 2016 I fulfilled my dream and hopped on a plane to Los Angeles - little did I know that I would struggle to fit in all of the things I wanted to do whilst I was there. I looked through the guidebook and discovered the top ten things to do whilst I was there, so I decided to make my own mini guidebook, I may not have done them all but I hope to return one day to complete my LA bucket list.
1. Hollywood Sign - Seen in billions of films and a must visit selfie destination in order make all of your Instagram followers envious.
2. Griffith Observatory - Any celebrity fans will know that this is the prime destination for celebrities to exercise around, and the Observatory itself is a quiet spot to spy on the rest of bustling Los Angles.
3. Hollywood Walk of Fame - Take a photo with your ultimate favourite celebrity, this is a MUST do whilst in the area.
4. Universal Studios Hollywood - If you're a thrill seeker then this is the place for you! With it's adrenaline-pumping rides and live action shows, Universal is all kinds of fun, whether you are young or old. I particularly liked the special effects show.
5. Chinese Theatre - You can stand in your favourite actors shoes in this grand movie palace, from Marilyn Monroe to R2D2 (Star Wars fans) you can find the footprints which are most important and iconic to you.
6. Santa Monica Pier - This is absolutely stunning at night, the bright lights illuminate the beach making it a busy night scene, if you are bored at night, this is the place to be. It has quirky restaurants nearby and is a beautiful photo spot.
7. Rodeo Drive - Arguably the most famous shopping district in Los Angeles, from Louis Vuitton to Chanel there are the best (and most expensive!) shops on the planet all lined up in one street.
8. Malibu - Possibly the healthiest district - from beach volleyball to 9am runs, the people of Malibu are a motivation to us all. I would also recommend Cafe Habana, favourite restaurant of Harry Styles and Kim Kardashian as it attracts 'foodies' from all around the world to try their Cuban/Mexican style cuisine.
9. Beverly Hills and Palm Springs - Home to some of the most expensive and exquisite restaurants in the world. It is so glitzy and glamorous that you begin to feel like a celebrity walking around here - you may even see a few celebrities walking around if you're lucky.
10. Dolby Theatre - Want to see where the world renowned Oscars is held? Then here is the answer to your question.
I really cannot stress enough as to how much I enjoyed being in Los Angeles, everything from the weather to the people made my time so amazing and I would do anything to go back (literally anything.) I didn't know what to expect but I certainly was pleasantly surprised, as Los Angeles, especially Hollywood is such a glorified place, I wanted to experience this 'Hollywood hype' first hand. The weeks leading up to my trip I was constantly looking up photos and tags on Instagram of Los Angeles, to help me with my curiosity, but this just reminded me not to get lost in the world of social media. Throughout my trip I took a step back from social media and completely immersed myself in the Los Angeles lifestyle, and I believe that this is what made my trip one hundred times better.
(Though of course I Instagrammed many pictures once I had returned!!!)
